20 wonton wrappers
sesame oil for brushing
Samosas, a popular Indian appetizer, are usually deep-fried and filled with meat or vegetables. This recipe, however, features a sweet potato filling and is baked, making it a healthier version of traditional samosas. Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet and create a delicious contrast with the curry powder's spice. The wonton wrapper provides a crispy shell that gives the right texture to this dish. This recipe is perfect for anyone craving an Indian appetizer without the added calories from deep-frying.

Instructions

1.Boil the diced sweet potato until it is tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, onion soup mix, and curry powder.
2.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
3.Lay out the wonton wrappers and brush them lightly with sesame oil.
4.Spoon a tablespoon of the mashed sweet potato onto the center of each wonton wrapper.
5.Fold the wonton wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal.
6.Place the samosas on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

PROS

These mini samosas are crispy, savory, and have a sweet and spicy filling that will satisfy your taste buds.

They are also healthier than traditional samosas, as they are baked, not fried.

CONS

The dry onion soup mix may contain a lot of sodium, so it is important to be mindful of its intake.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamins and minerals, including beta-carotene, vitamin C, and potassium. They are also a great source of dietary fiber, promoting digestive health. Curry powder has been linked to its anti-inflammatory properties, reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
