Ingredients

150 g smoked lardons or 150 g finely diced smoked bacon
1/2 red onion , very finely diced
360 ml tepid water
2 tablespoons dried nonfat dry milk powder
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs
560 g strong white bread flour
7 g dried yeast
The Mile High Crispy Bacon and Onion Bread is a savory bread that can be served as a side dish for a variety of meals. Instructions

1.Fry the smoked bacon/lardons with the onions until crispy over medium heat. Set aside.
2.Pour tepid water, nonfat dry milk powder, olive oil, salt, mixed herbs, and sugar in a bread machine.
3.Add the strong white bread flour on top of the liquid ingredients.
4.Make a well in the middle of the flour and add the dried yeast, without it touching any liquid.
5.Pour the fried bacon and onion and on top of the flour.
6.Use the bread machine's dough setting and wait until it complete the cycle.
7.Remove the dough and place it in a greased bread tin. Cover it and let it rest for 20-30 minutes until it doubles in size.
8.Bake in the oven at 190C for 30-35 minutes. Check the internal temperature in the center of the bread, it should be at least 93C.
9.Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a rack.
