DOUGH :
1 ( .25 ounce ) envelope active dry yeast
1 cup lukewarm water
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
SAUCE :
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can tomato paste
6 fluid ounces water
1/2 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Mike's Homemade Pizza is a classic dish loved by many. It's perfect for a movie night with friends or a family dinner. Instructions

1.In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Add flour, salt and shortening; mix well to form a dough.
2.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes.
3.Place dough back in the bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
4.While the dough is rising, prepare the sauce in a medium-sized saucepan. Heat oil over medium heat, add chopped onions and sauté until transparent. Add tomato paste, water, sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, dried marjoram, ground cumin, chili powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5.Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C)
6.Roll out dough onto a floured surface; sprinkle cornmeal on a baking sheet, and place the dough on top.
7.Spread sauce evenly over dough, and sprinkle cheese and toppings on the pizza.
8.Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from oven and serve hot.
