Ingredients

1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour

1 can tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups kidney beans , cooked ( optional )
chopped lettuce
diced tomato
grated cheddar cheese
sour cream
salsa
sliced black olives

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F.
2.In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder.
3.Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4.Stir in yogurt or half-and-half and egg until well mixed.
5.Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9-inch pie pan.
6.Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
7.Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is tender.
8.Drain any excess grease and stir in the chili powder, Tabasco sauce, tomato paste, cumin, black pepper, salt and kidney beans, if using.
9.Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
10.Pour the meat mixture over the baked crust.
11.Return to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes.
12.Sprinkle lettuce, tomato, cheese and olives over the top.
13.Serve with sour cream and salsa.
