3 1/2 - 3 3/4 cups flour

4 packages english walnuts , finely ground

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, stir together yeast and warm water until yeast is dissolved.
2.In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, salt, melted butter, and 2 cups of flour. Add in the yeast mixture and stir well until all ingredients are fully combined.
3.Add in the egg and stir again.
4.Continue adding flour 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well, until a soft dough is formed.
5.Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
6.Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
7.Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the finely ground walnuts, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
8.Preheat oven to 350 F.
9.Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two pieces. Roll each piece out to a 1/4 inch thickness and place in two 9x13 inch greased baking dishes.
10.Spread the cooled walnut mixture evenly over the dough.
11.Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
12.Serve warm or at room temperature.
