Ingredients

3 lbs boneless pork shoulder ( Boston butt )
1/4 cup vegetable oil
salt and pepper , to taste
1 1/2 tablespoons ground oregano
1 tablespoon ground cumin
3 tablespoons garlic , minced
2 cups orange juice
1 bottle beer
vegetable oil , for frying
Masas De Puerco (Cuban Fried Pork) is a classic comfort food in Cuba that is popular among locals and tourists alike. The dish is made of tender pieces of pork shoulder seasoned with flavorful spices and citrus, slow-cooked in beer and orange juice, and then deep-fried until crispy golden brown. It is often served with rice and black beans for a balanced and satisfying meal.

Instructions

1.Cut the pork shoulder into 2-inch pieces and season with salt, pepper, oregano, cumin, and minced garlic.
2.In a large pot, heat 1/4 cup of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned pork to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.
3.Add orange juice and a bottle of beer to the pot. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 and ½ hours.
4.Remove the pork from the pot, shred it with a fork, and discard any large pieces of fat.
5.Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the shredded pork until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
6.Place the fried pork on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot with a side of rice and black beans.
