Ingredients

1/4 cup water
2 lbs ground lean pork
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
5 -6 medium potatoes ( boiled & mashed with 1/2 chopped onion )
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup Crisco ( vegetable shortening )
1/2 cup ice cold water
1 egg , beaten with 1 tablespoon milk for top of crust before cooking

Instructions

1.In a large skillet, brown the ground pork over medium heat.
2.Add the chopped onion, pepper, salt, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves, and stir well.

4.In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and Crisco.
5.Add the ice cold water and mix until the lumpy dough forms a ball.
6.Divide the dough in half and roll both halves into two large circles.
7.Line the bottom and sides of two pie plates with the dough, using the excess dough to fill any gaps or tears.
8.Add the meat mixture to the pie plates, and cover with the boiled, mashed potatoes and onion.
9.Roll out the remaining dough and cover each pie. Cut a few slits in the top of each pie to allow steam to escape.
10.Brush the top of each pie with the beaten egg mixture.
11.Place the pies in the oven and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown.
