Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs minute steaks , sliced in 1/2 - 3/4 in X 2 in strips ( Minute steak is round steak , pre tenderized by crushing or cutting the grain cut of steak , usually b )
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons pepper , freshly ground
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons olive oil , more as required
1 sweet pepper , green , sliced
1 onion , white cut in wedges
4 garlic cloves , chopped
2 cups mushrooms , thickly sliced
1/2 cup carrot ( optional carrot and celery slices )
28 ounces diced tomatoes ( reserve 1/4 cup liquid to mix with flour for rue )
1 teaspoon Keen 's dry mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup ketchup ( optional )
1/2 cup red wine ( I like Merlot )
Marmie's Swiss Like Minute Steak is a classic dish that has been passed down for generations in many families. The dish is named after the author's grandmother who perfected the recipe over many years. The minute steak is sliced into thin pieces, then cooked in a seasoned flour mixture until crispy. The steak is then served with a flavorful sauce made from garlic, sweet pepper, onions, mushrooms, tomato, and red wine. Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon paprika and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
2.Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over high heat.
3.Dredge the steak in seasoned flour mixture, then cook each side until brown and crispy. Repeat until all steak is cooked. Add more olive oil if necessary.
4.Remove steak from skillet and set aside on a plate.
5.In the same skillet, cook the sweet pepper, white onion wedges, 4 chopped garlic cloves, thickly sliced mushrooms, optional carrot and celery slices in the remaining oil until vegetables are tender-crisp.
6.In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup reserved diced tomato liquid with flour to create a rue and then pour in remaining diced tomato.
7.Sprinkle 1 teaspoon Keen's dry mustard, stir in 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup ketchup, and 1/2 cup Merlot.
8.Bring the skillet to a boil and let simmer until sauce has thickened to desired consistency.
9.Serve over minute steak and enjoy!
