2 lbs lean ground beef

4 garlic cloves , minced or 3 teaspoons garlic powder
1 can whole Italian plum tomatoes
1 can whole tomatoes
3 cans tomato paste ( 1 for reserve )
2 teaspoons parsley flakes
2 1/2 teaspoons oregano flakes
1 teaspoon crushed fennel seed
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes , crushed
1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary
2 bay leaves
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar ( preferably brown )
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 lb mostaccioli noodles ( or penne , if not available )

Instructions

1.In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook the lean ground beef, salt, and pepper until browned.

4.Break up the tomatoes with a wooden spoon, and add both cans of tomato paste.
5.Add in the parsley, oregano, fennel seeds, red pepper flakes, crushed rosemary, bay leaves, and brown sugar.
6.Simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
7.15 minutes before serving, cook the mostaccioli noodles according to package directions.
8.Once cooked, drain the water, toss the noodles with the reserved can of tomato paste, and add them to the sauce.
9.Serve hot, topped with parmesan cheese.
