2 cans plum tomato puree
1/2 pound hot Italian sausage , sliced into bite-sized pieces
1/2 pound mild Italian sausage , sliced into bite-sized pieces
2 pounds ground chuck
salt to taste

1 1/2 cups water
1 can tomato paste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried basil , or to taste

1 tablespoon dried parsley , or to taste

Instructions

1.In a large pot, brown the ground chuck and sausage over medium-high heat, stirring and breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until well browned and no longer pink.
2.Drain any excess grease from the pot, and add the diced onion and garlic, stirring to incorporate.
3.Add the tomato puree, water, tomato paste, grated Parmesan cheese, and dried herbs, stirring well to combine.
4.Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5.Reduce the heat to low, and let the sauce simmer for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
