Ingredients

40 g self raising flour
40 g caster sugar
40 g unsalted butter
15 g ground almonds
1 small egg
1 teaspoon orange flower water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
icing sugar , to dredge

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan)/350°F/gas 4.
2.Melt the butter and leave to cool slightly while you get on with weighing everything else.
3.Beat the egg, caster sugar, vanilla essence, and orange flower water together.
4.Sift the flour and ground almonds into the egg mixture and whisk lightly until just combined.
5.Pour in the slightly cooled melted butter and fold together until just combined.
6.Grease your mini Madeleine tray and spoon in the mixture.
7.Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
8.Remove the tray from the oven and let the Madeleines cool down for a few minutes before gently removing them.
9.Dust with icing sugar before serving.
