Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Add the saffron, sugar, and 1 cup of flour, and stir to combine.

3.Add the remaining flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and butter, and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
4.Knead the dough by hand or with a mixer fitted with a dough hook, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
5.Shape the dough into a ball, and transfer it to an oiled bowl. Cover and let the dough rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
6.Divide the dough into 32 equal pieces, and shape each piece of dough into an S shape.
7.Place the S-shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a towel, and allow to rest for 15 minutes.
8.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
9.Mix together the remaining egg and water, and brush it onto the dough shapes. Place a raisin into the center of each S shape.
10.Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
