Ingredients

2 1/2 lbs chuck roast , trimmed of all visible fat
2 cups beef broth
1 cup tamari or 1 cup soy sauce
3 cups water
4 cloves garlic , sliced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
3 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
salt ( generally , no extra salt is needed )
4 -6 hoagie rolls , buttered and toasted
10 -12 slices mozzarella cheese or 10 -12 slices provolone cheese ( or more )

Instructions

3.Preheat oven to 350°F. Take the beef out of the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
4.Strain the cooking liquid from the slow cooker and skim off any excess fat.
5.Return the cooking liquid and shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to combine.
6.Butter and toast the hoagie rolls in the oven for a few minutes until lightly browned.
7.Place cheese slices on the bottom of the hoagie rolls.
8.Spoon the beef onto the cheese and top with additional cheese slices.
9.Close the sandwich with the top half of the hoagie roll and serve hot.
