2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
1/4 cup water
1 star anise
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 inches piece ginger , sliced very thin
4 hard-boiled eggs , deshelled ( garnish )
1 scallion , sliced ( garnish )
hot cooked rice , as needed

Instructions
