1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup ground toasted hazelnuts ( filberts ) or 1 cup almonds
1 tablespoon dark unsweetened cocoa
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup seedless raspberry jam or 1 cup apricot jam
confectioners ' sugar , for dusting

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
2.Cream together butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
3.Beat in the egg, then mix in the ground hazelnuts (or almonds), cocoa powder, and spices.
4.Slowly stir in the flour until thoroughly mixed.
5.Divide the dough in half, and press one half into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
6.Spread the raspberry (or apricot) jam evenly over the dough.
7.Crumble the remaining dough over the jam, making sure to cover it completely.
8.Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
9.Let the bars cool completely in the baking dish.
10.Cut into squares, dust with confectioners’ sugar, and serve.
