Instructions

2.Add canola oil to the skillet with the reserved bacon drippings.

4.Rinse the lentils and add them to the skillet along with the barley, beef broth, cumin, allspice, and chopped tomatoes.
5.Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes, or until lentils and barley are tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
6.Top with parsley and crumbled bacon and serve hot.
