1/2 - 1 cup split red lentils ( wash thoroughly )
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1 pinch mixed herbs
1 clove
1 cardamom pod
1 small curry leaf
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon paprika
1 pinch cumin seed
2 tablespoons corn ( optional )
salt and pepper
2 garlic cloves ( slice thinly )
dry chili flakes or 1 small dry chili pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

1.Soak the split red lentils in water for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
2.In a pot, heat the olive oil and add the sliced garlic, cooking until browned.
3.Add the ginger powder, mixed herbs, clove, cardamom pod, curry leaf, turmeric, paprika, cumin seed, and chili flakes. Stir for 10 seconds.
4.Add the soaked lentils, corn, salt, and pepper. Stir for a minute, then add 4 cups of water.
5.Allow the soup to cook over medium heat for 25 minutes or until the lentils are tender, stirring occasionally.
6.You can add more water if the soup is too thick. Serve hot with bread or crackers on the side.
