Ingredients

1 kg roast meat
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove
1 onion
1 carrot
1 potato
1 pinch pepper
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch cinnamon
1 cinnamon stick
1 -2 laurel leaf
1 cup wine ( optional )
1 1/2 kg potatoes ( for the mashed potatoes )
500 ml milk
75 g butter
2 tablespoons flour ( for the gravy )
2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2.In a deep bowl, mix butter, olive oil, garlic, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon powder together.
3.Rub this mixture on roast meat and put the cinnamon stick and laurel leaf on the top.
4.Put the veggies around the meat and pour the wine over it.
5.Put the bowl in the oven for about 90 minutes.
6.Peel and cut potatoes and boil them till tender.
7.Drain and mash potatoes with milk and butter. Add salt to taste.
8.In a separate pan, melt butter and add flour, stirring it continuously till it turns brown and thick.
9.Add 2 cups of water gradually while whisking to get a smooth gravy. Add salt and pepper to taste.
10.Once done, take out the meat and put it on a plate. Skim off the fat and serve the roast with mash and gravy.
