Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
2.Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions.
3.In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic until meat is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off the excess fat.
4.Stir in the sugar, salt, basil, fennel seed, pepper, mushrooms, olives, canned tomatoes, and tomato paste. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
5.In a medium-sized bowl, combine the beaten eggs and ricotta cheese with dried parsley.
6.To assemble the lasagna, place a layer of noodles at the bottom of the greased baking dish. Spoon a third of the meat sauce over the noodles, followed by a third of the ricotta mixture and a third of the mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with asiago and parmesan cheese. Repeat for two more layers.
7.Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
