Ingredients

3 lbs lamb shoulder , trimmed and cut into bite-size pieces
1/4 cup butter
2 medium onions , chopped
2 cups beef broth
1/2 teaspoon saffron thread , crushed
1 small cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup pitted dates , halved
1/2 cup toasted whole almond
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
spiced couscous ( this is in my recipe book )
Lamb tajine is a classic Moroccan dish that is traditionally cooked in a tajine, a cone-shaped clay pot with a lid. This recipe uses a Dutch oven, which works just as well. The lamb is slow-cooked in a flavorful broth with saffron, cinnamon, honey, and dates, resulting in a tender and aromatic dish that is perfect for a cozy dinner at home. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
2.In a large, oven-safe Dutch oven over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
3.Season the lamb with salt and pepper, then add to the Dutch oven and cook until browned on all sides.
4.Add in the chopped onions and cook until softened.
5.Pour in the beef broth, saffron, cinnamon stick, honey, and ground cinnamon. Bring to a simmer and cover with a tight-fitting lid.
6.Transfer the Dutch oven to the oven and cook for 2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
7.Remove from the oven and stir in the dates, almonds, and sesame seeds.
8.Serve hot with spiced couscous.
