Ingredients

1 kg grams mutton or 1 kg lamb
4 medium sized onions ( thinly sliced )
2 tomatoes ( chopped into 1 inch squares )
2 pieces star anise
2 tablespoons of chopped ginger
4 tablespoons of chopped garlic
1 tablespoon peanuts
5 -6 mint leaves ( whole )
2 whole green chilies ( chopped in two )
5 -6 coriander leaves ( chopped )
1 cup oil
1 cup curds or 1 cup yoghurt
2 tablespoons meat masala or 2 tablespoons garam masala
salt or black pepper
red chili powder
500 ml water

Instructions

1.Heat oil in a kadhai and add star anise. Once it starts releasing its aroma, add sliced onions and stir-fry for 5 minutes.
2.Add ginger and garlic and continue stir-frying for another 5 minutes.
3.Add meat masala, red chili powder, and salt or black pepper to taste. Mix well.
4.Add mutton or lamb and continue stir-frying on high heat till it changes color.
5.Reduce the heat to medium and add chopped tomatoes, peanuts, and yoghurt. Stir well and let it cook for 2 minutes.
6.Add water and cover the kadhai with a lid. Let it cook on low heat for 40-50 minutes or until the meat is tender.
7.Once the meat is tender, remove the lid and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes on high heat to evaporate any excess water.
8.Add chopped mint leaves, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Mix well and serve hot with chapatis or rice.
