1 1/2 lbs ripe tomatoes ( halved )
28 ounces hunt 's whole tomatoes with basil
16 ounces hunt 's tomato sauce with basil garlic and oregano
2 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons flour
1/4 lb butter
3 tablespoons dry basil

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 450°F.
2.Spread halved tomatoes out on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly charred.
3.In a large bowl, hand-crush the canned whole tomatoes to release their juices.
4.In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat and whisk in the flour to form a roux.
5.Slowly whisk in the whole milk to the roux to form a thick cream.
6.Add the roasted tomatoes to the pot, along with the canned tomatoes and tomato sauce.
7.Simmer for 20-30 minutes. Add in dry basil and salt and pepper to taste.
8.Use an immersion blender or transfer the soup to a blender and blend until smooth.
9.Serve hot and enjoy!
