24 sheets phyllo dough
4 cups cooked white rice
1 garlic clove , minced
3 cups cubed cooked lamb or 3 cups beef
1 lemon , juice of
2 potatoes , peeled and quartered
4 hard-boiled eggs , quartered
2 tablespoons lemon zest
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint leaves
1 1/2 cups crumbled feta cheese
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 egg , beaten
1/2 cup butter , melted

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375F.
2.In a large bowl, mix together the cooked rice, garlic, cubed lamb or beef, lemon juice, lemon zest, parsley, mint leaves, feta cheese, and ground black pepper until well combined.
3.In a separate bowl, mix together the beaten egg and butter.
4.Using a pastry brush, lightly coat the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish with some of the egg mixture.
5.Place 8 sheets of phyllo dough into the baking dish, brushing each layer with more of the egg mixture as you go.
6.Spread half of the meat and rice mixture on top of the phyllo dough.
7.Top the filling with another 8 sheets of phyllo dough, again brushing each layer with the egg mixture.
8.Spread the remaining filling on top of the second layer of phyllo dough.
9.Top the filling with the remaining 8 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each layer with the egg mixture as before.
10.Pour the olive oil and beef broth over the top of the final layer of dough.
11.Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the phyllo dough is golden brown and crispy.
12.Let cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into serving pieces and serving.
