Bulgogi is a traditional Korean grilled beef dish, typically made from thinly sliced sirloin steaks, marinated in a blend of soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and green onions. This recipe by Kona K puts a modern twist on the classic dish by including enoki mushrooms, which provide a fresh crunch and a meaty texture to the dish. The beef is easy to prepare, and the marinade imparts a bold flavour that is sure to impress your guests. This dish can be enjoyed as a main course with a side of steamed rice or as a protein-rich addition to your favourite Asian-inspired salad.

Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sugar, vegetable oil, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, garlic, and green onions.
2.Place the sliced beef in a resealable bag and add the marinade, making sure the meat is fully coated. Leave to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for optimal flavour.
3.Remove the beef from the marinade and discard any excess marinade. Heat a grill pan or barbecue to high heat and grill the beef in batches for 3-4 minutes until browned and just cooked through, turning occasionally.
4.While the beef is cooking, in a separate pan, sauté the enoki mushrooms in a little oil until just cooked.
5.Serve the beef alongside the enoki mushrooms and steamed rice.
