Ingredients

16 lamb , koftas ( minced lamb meatballs )
4 tablespoons ghee
2 large onions , finely diced
10 garlic cloves , minced
5 green thin chili peppers , finely sliced , inc seeds ( Kashmiri )
4 green cardamom pods
1 inch cubed fresh gingerroot , finely sliced
1/2 teaspoon coriander seed , ground
1 teaspoon chili powder , hot
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 1/2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
3 bay leaves
5 potatoes , diced
2 vegetable bouillon cubes
1 can chopped plum tomatoes
1 teaspoon ground mace
2 tablespoons natural yoghurt
Kofta curry is a classic dish originating from the Middle East and South Asia. It is made from minced meat mixed with spices and onions and then shaped into small balls. In this recipe, we are using lamb mince to make the koftas. Yorkshire-style kofta curry is a comforting and hearty dish made with potatoes and tomatoes in a richly spiced sauce. This version of the classic curry recipe is easy to make and can be enjoyed by the whole family. It is perfect for a cold winter's evening or a family gathering.

Instructions

1.Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a large heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat and fry the koftas until brown all over. Remove from the pan.
2.In the same pot, add the remaining ghee and fry the onions for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
3.Add the garlic, green chillis, ginger, and cardamom and stir for 2 minutes.
4.Add all the powdered spices, bay leaves, and bouillon cubes and stir for 2-3 minutes.
5.Add the tomatoes and mace and cook for 3-4 minutes until the oil separates.
6.Add the diced potatoes and 1 1/2 cups of water, bring to a boil, then lower the heat and gently simmer for about 15 minutes.
7.Add the koftas and the natural yoghurt and heat through gently for 5 minutes.
8.Serve with rice or naan bread.

PROS

This delicious curry is full of flavor and spices and can be enjoyed with rice or naan bread.

CONS
