Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 egg , beaten
4 green chile peppers , minced
1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon garam masala
salt to taste
1 1/2 cups cooking oil for deep-frying
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3 cloves garlic , minced
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon ground fennel seed ( sanuf )
salt to taste
1 can tomato puree
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon dried fenugreek leaves ( kasoori methi )
1/4 cup cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro , for garnish
Kheema Malai Kofta is a classic Indian dish that is often served on special occasions. Instructions

1.To Make Kofta:
2.Combine ground beef, egg, minced green chili peppers, bread crumbs, ginger, garlic, garam masala and salt in a bowl and mix well.
3.Form mixture into 1 1/2 inch balls and set aside.
4.Heat cooking oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees F and deep fry kofta balls until light brown.
5.To Make Gravy:
6.Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet over medium heat.
7.Add garlic and ginger to oil and cook until fragrant.
8.Stir sugar, Kashmiri chili powder, garam masala, and ground fennel into skillet and add salt to taste.
9.Stir in tomato puree and water into skillet and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 5 minutes.
10.Add fenugreek leaves to skillet and stir.
11.Slowly pour in cream and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
12.Add kofta balls to skillet and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
13.Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
