Ke's Cajun (Dirty) Rice is a traditional Cajun dish that originated in Louisiana. It gets the name dirty rice because of the brown color from the bits of ground meat and spices that are mixed in with the rice. The Cajun seasoning and other spices give this dish a bold and zesty flavor that is sure to please. It's perfect for a filling and comforting meal at any time of day.

Instructions

1.Rinse the rice with cold water in a fine-mesh strainer and place in a pot with 1 1/2 cups of water; stir in a pinch of salt, bring to a boil, and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer until the rice is tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
2.While the rice simmers, cook the ground turkey in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally to break up the chunks, until browned, about 10 minutes.
3.Add the green bell pepper, onion, garlic, garlic powder, crushed celery flakes, Cajun seasoning, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
4.Add the 1/3 cup of water to the skillet and scrape any browned bits off the bottom of the skillet with a wooden spoon. Stir the turkey mixture into the cooked rice, tossing to combine well. Serve immediately.
