Ingredients

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 large yellow onion , chopped
4 garlic cloves , minced
2 anchovy fillets or 1 tablespoon anchovy paste
1 can tomato paste
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
3/4 cup red wine ( I prefer good Chianti or Merlot , nothing too fruity )
1 tablespoon basil
1 tablespoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

1.Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2.Add brown sugar and red pepper flakes, cook for 1 minute.
3.Add onion, garlic and anchovy fillets or paste, cook until onion is translucent.
4.Add tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.
5.Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, red wine, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes and brown sugar, stir to combine.
6.Reduce heat to low, cover the pot with a lid and simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
