Ingredients

1 cup warm milk
1/2 ounce yeast ( by weight )
2 1/4 lbs wheat flour
2 large eggs , beaten ( room temp )
salt
2/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup warm milk
1/3 lb butter , melted
Karavay is a traditional sweet bread that is commonly served in Russia. This bread is similar to brioche but is more elaborate in its design. Karavay is often served at weddings and special events. It is best enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee.

Instructions

1.Dissolve the yeast in 1 cup of warm milk
2.Mix together the flour, eggs, salt, sugar, and 3/4 cup of warm milk then add the yeast mixture
3.Knead the dough until smooth, then add the melted butter while continuing to knead
4.Let the dough rest for about an hour
5.Split the dough in half, and roll both halves into a long rope
6.Take a piece of dough and twist it into a wreath shape
7.Repeat with the other piece of dough
8.Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes
9.Preheat oven to 375°F
10.Bake for 25-30 minutes
11.Let it cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve
