Ingredients

1 can clams ( chopped or minced , Costco or BJ 's carries these size cans )
3 lbs Red Bliss potatoes ( you wo n't have to peel the bliss ! ) or 3 lbs maine utility potatoes ( you wo n't have to peel the bliss ! )
6 ounces salt pork
3 celery ribs
1 large onion
2 cups milk ( I use 2 % )
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1 sprig fresh rosemary , in cheesecloth or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary , in a tea ball
salt and pepper
New England Clam Chowder is a classic soup recipe that is hugely popular in the Northeastern United States, particularly in Maine and Massachusetts. Instructions

1.Drain the canned clams and reserve the liquid.
2.Cut the celery and onion into small pieces.
3.Peel the potatoes and cut them into small, bite-sized pieces.
4.In a large pot, cook the salt pork until browned and crispy. Remove the salt pork from the pot but leave the drippings.
5.Add the onion and celery to the pot and sauté until the vegetables are soft.
6.Add the reserved clam juice and enough water to cover the vegetables. Add the potatoes and rosemary. Simmer until the potatoes are tender.
7.In a separate pan, melt the butter. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes. Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Cook until thickened.
8.Add the clams and the flour mixture to the pot with the vegetables. Simmer for a few minutes until the flavors have melded together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
