Ingredients

4 -5 cups water
2 - 2 1/2 cups long grain white rice
2 large bay leaves
1 package linguica sausage ( or the turkey sausage equivalent )
1 tablespoon tomato paste ( no salt added preferred )
1 package lima beans ( from the freezer section )
1 large onion , chopped
1 tablespoon garlic , minced
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 -2 tablespoon olive oil
Jagacida, also known as Portuguese Jag, is a rice dish that originates from Portugal. It is a hearty and flavorful dish that is typically made with lima beans and linguica sausage. Instructions

1.In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
2.Rinse the rice and add it to the pot of water along with the bay leaves. Reduce the heat to low and let the rice simmer until it is tender, stirring occasionally. If the water gets too low, add more as needed.
3.While the rice is cooking, heat a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil, onions, and garlic to the pan and cook until the onions are translucent, stirring frequently.
4.Add the linguica sausage and cook for another few minutes or until the sausage is browned.
5.Add the tomato paste and white pepper to the pan and stir to combine. Then add the lima beans and 1 cup of water. Cover the pan with a lid and let the beans simmer until they are soft.
6.Once the rice is cooked, remove the bay leaves and add the sausage and bean mixture to the pot. Stir to combine.
