Calzone is a traditional Italian dish made by stuffing pizza dough with various fillings, folding it over, and baking it until crispy and golden brown. Originally a humble peasant food, it has become a popular snack and meal option around the world. Our recipe uses Simply Potatoes Diced Potatoes with Onion and Italian sausage to create a flavorful and filling calzone. The potatoes and onions provide a sweet and creamy contrast to the spicy sausage, while the pristinely cooked pizza dough encases it all in a crisp, golden brown crust. Serve it with a side salad or some garlic bread to make it a complete meal.

Instructions

.Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
.In a skillet, cook the sausages over medium-high heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and slice into small pieces.
.Return the skillet to heat and cook Simply Potatoes Diced Potatoes with Onion according to the package instructions until browned. Add the sausage pieces and mix well.
.On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a circle.
.Spoon the sausage and potato mixture onto one half of the circle, leaving a one-inch border around the edge.
.Fold the other half of the pizza dough over the filling and press the edges to seal. Brush the top with canola oil.
.Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
.Serve with marinara sauce.
