The Italian Flag Salad, also known as Caprese, is a traditional Italian salad that is named after the colors of the Italian flag - red, white, and green. The salad is made with fresh ripe tomatoes, creamy fresh mozzarella cheese, and bright green pesto sauce. It is a staple on Italian menus, especially in the summer months when tomatoes are at their peak. The salad is often served as an appetizer or a side dish, but can also be enjoyed as a light and healthy lunch or dinner.

Instructions

1.Slice the tomatoes thickly and arrange them on a large serving platter.
2.Drain the fresh mozzarella from its package and slice it into rounds of the same thickness as the tomatoes.
3.Layer the mozzarella slices on top of the tomato slices, in a pattern that looks like the Italian flag.
4.Drizzle the salad with pesto sauce, making sure to cover all of the tomato and mozzarella slices.
5.Drizzle with a little bit of olive oil and serve immediately.
