Ingredients

2 packages dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup warm water ( not hot )
1/3 cup melted butter , cooled slightly
3/4 cup warm water
2 teaspoons salt
5 1/2 - 6 cups flour
cornmeal
1 egg white , slightly beaten

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and let stand for 5 minutes.
2.Add melted butter, warm water, salt, and enough flour to form a soft dough
3.Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes
4.Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes
5.Grease a baking sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal
6.Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on the prepared baking sheet
7.Slash the top of the loaf with a sharp knife
8.Let it rise in a warm place until almost double, about 30-40 minutes
9.Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C)
10.Brush the loaf with egg white and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
