Ingredients

1 lb ground sirloin
1 can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons fresh thyme
2 tablespoons fresh sage
2 tablespoons fresh rosemary
2 tablespoons fresh chervil
2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
2 cups beef gravy
1/2 lb potato , peeled and cubed
1/2 lb rutabaga , peeled and cubed
1 can beef stock
1 cup cream
1/2 cup butter
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 large onion , diced
1 garlic clove , minced

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.In a large skillet, cook the ground sirloin until browned, stirring frequently for around 10 minutes.
3.Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for a further 5 minutes.
4.Stir in the tomato sauce, fresh thyme, sage, rosemary, chervil, mixed vegetables, beef gravy, and beef stock. Mix well.
5.Reduce the heat to low, and let the mixture simmer for around 30 minutes.
6.Meanwhile, boil the cubed potatoes and rutabagas in a pot of salted water until soft, around 20 minutes.
7.Drain the water and mash the potatoes, rutabagas, butter, and cream with a potato masher until well combined.
8.In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the cooked ground beef mixture over the bottom of the dish.
9.Scoop the mashed potato mixture over the top of the beef mixture and spread it evenly.
10.Top the mashed potatoes with shredded cheddar cheese.
11.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the top of the mashed potatoes is golden brown.
12.Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
