Ingredients

2 tablespoons flaked coconut
2 teaspoons caramel ice cream topping
1 egg
1 egg yolk
3/4 cup half-and-half cream
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch ground allspice
Creamy Individual Flans are a classic French dessert that are popular all over the world. It’s known as “flan” in French, meaning custard. It has a smooth, creamy, and velvety texture that’s hard to resist. The caramel and coconut add a tropical touch to this traditional dessert. It’s a perfect way to end a dinner party or just enjoy as an afternoon delight. The individual serving size makes it a great personalized treat.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease six 6-ounce custard cups.
2.Sprinkle coconut and caramel topping in bottom of each cup.
3.In a small bowl, whisk together egg, egg yolk, cream, sugar, vanilla and allspice.
4.Pour mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into prepared cups. Gently tap cups to ensure mixture settles evenly.
5.Place cups in a shallow baking dish and fill with boiling water halfway up the sides of the cups.
6.Bake for 30-35 minutes or until edges are lightly set and centres are almost set.
7.Remove cups from water bath and let cool for 10 minutes. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.
8.To serve, run a knife around cups to loosen flans and invert onto plates. Serve cold.

This dessert is easy to make and doesn’t require many ingredients.

It needs to be refrigerated for at least 1 hour to set.
