PROS

These individual calzones are customizable, with three delicious filling options, and are perfect for lunches, dinners or snacks on the go.

Their small size also makes them a great party appetizer.

They are rich in protein and can be a great source of calcium when made with high-quality cheeses.

CONS

Calzones can be high in sodium because of the cheese and cured meat, so they should be enjoyed in moderation for people watching their sodium intake.

The dough itself, if not made with whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour, can be a source of refined carbohydrates which can lead to weight gain and spike blood sugar levels.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

Calzones with the spinach filling can provide a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals, while the use of lean beef or turkey sausage instead of pork can be a good source of protein and a healthier option.
Roasted red pepper and spinach are good sources of vitamins A and C, which can help boost immunity, and fight off harmful bacteria and viruses.
