No trip to Hungary would be complete without indulging in a bowl of their famous beef goulash, locally known as "porkolt". This traditional stew dates back centuries and has become a beloved dish around the world. Its signature deep paprika flavor and tender chunks of beef make it a hearty and comforting meal in cold winter months. The dish is typically served with potatoes or bread, making it a filling and satisfying meal that warms your soul.

Instructions

1.Heat corn oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, until browned on all sides.
2.Add onion and red bell pepper and cook for another 5 minutes, until onion is translucent.
3.Add cumin and paprika and cook for another minute, stirring constantly.
4.Add 2 cups of water, vegeta or beef bouillon, salt, tomato sauce, and pressed garlic cloves. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours or until the beef is fork-tender.
5.Add red wine and continue cooking for another 30 minutes for the flavors to meld together. If the mixture is too thick, add more water to thin it out.
