2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup hot chocolate powder
2 tablespoons butter , softened
1 egg white
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon Kahlua
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup spelt flour
1/4 cup buckwheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 pinch black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
100 g finely chopped roasted chestnuts ( about 3/4 cup )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, hot chocolate powder, butter, egg white, vanilla extract, and Kahlua until smooth.
3.In another bowl, mix together flour, spelt flour, buckwheat flour, baking powder, allspice, black pepper, and salt.
4.Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, and knead until a dough forms.
5.Mix in the chopped roasted chestnuts into the dough.
6.Shape the mixture into a log shape, and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7.Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the log is lightly browned.
8.Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
9.Use a serrated knife to slice the log into 1 inch thick biscotti slices.
10.Lay these slices flat on the baking sheet and bake for around 10-15 minutes, until crispy.
