Ingredients

4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons honey
1 egg yolk plus 1 tbsp . water for egg wash to finish the roll
1 can poppy seeds , cake and pastry filling ( I used SOLO )
powdered sugar ( optional )

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, and sugar.

3.Pour the wet mixture over the dry mixture and knead the dough for around 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4.Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle shape.
5.Brush the dough with a thin layer of the poppy seed filling.
6.Starting from the end nearest to you, roll up the dough tightly and pinch the seam and ends together.
7.Place the roll seam-side down on a lined baking sheet. Brush the top of the roll with the egg wash.
8.Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for around 45 minutes.
9.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the roll for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
10.Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool down.
11.Dust with icing sugar (optional), slice, and serve.
