The Honey Apple Linzer Tart is a classic Austrian dessert that has been enjoyed for centuries. It is named after the city of Linz and is traditionally made with almond flour and raspberry jam. This recipe puts a twist on the classic by using apples instead of raspberry jam and adding a drizzle of honey. The tartness of the apples pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the honey and creates a delectable dessert that is sure to impress your guests. Whether it's for a holiday celebration or a weeknight treat, this Honey Apple Linzer Tart is the perfect addition to any dessert table.

Instructions

.In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, honey, orange marmalade, and apple juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is syrupy, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
.Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. In a medium bowl, toss the apples with the lemon juice to prevent browning.
.In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the egg yolks and water until the dough comes together.
.Divide the dough into two portions. Place one portion in the bottom of a 9″ tart pan with a removable bottom. Use your fingertips to press the dough into the pan in an even layer. Arrange the sliced apples on top of the dough in a single layer. Drizzle the honey syrup over the apples.
.Roll the second portion of dough out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle. Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the dough into long, thin strips.
.Arrange the strips over the apples in a lattice pattern, weaving them over and under each other in a diagonal pattern.
.Bake the tart for 35 to 40 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
.Serve the tart warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
