Ingredients

1 lb minced lean pork
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground fennel
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion , finely chopped
1 package frozen puff pastry , thawed
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons cold water
Homemade sausage rolls are a classic appetizer that are always a crowd-pleaser. These flaky pastries filled with savory meat and spices are perfect for parties, potlucks, or even as a quick snack. While they may not be the healthiest option, they are a delicious indulgence that can be customized to your liking. Try using different meats or adding in your favorite seasonings to make them unique.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F.
2.In a large bowl, combine pork, parsley, salt, black pepper, fennel, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
3.In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until soft, but not browned. Cool slightly and add to pork mixture. Mix to combine.
4.Unfold thawed puff pastry and cut in half to make two long rectangles.
5.Spoon half of the pork mixture onto one rectangle, making a long, thin sausage shape down the center. Brush one long side of the pastry with egg yolk whisked with 2 teaspoons of cold water.
6.Roll the pastry around the sausage, sealing it with the egg wash seam-side down.
7.Repeat with the remaining pastry and pork mixture.
8.Cut each long roll into smaller pieces and place, seam-side down, on a baking sheet. Brush with egg wash.
9.Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
