Hermano Roberto's Simple Salsa is a classic Mexican condiment that can be served as a dip or topping for a variety of dishes, such as tacos, burritos, and grilled meats. With only a handful of ingredients, it's easy to make and can be customized to suit your personal taste preferences – add more jalapenos for extra heat or adjust the amount of cilantro to your liking. While this recipe uses canned tomatoes, you can also use fresh ones when they are in season for an even fresher taste.

Instructions

.Preheat a broiler.
.Cut the jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Place the peppers skin-side up on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
.Broil the peppers until the skin is blackened and blistered, about 8 minutes.
.Remove the peppers from the oven and place in a sealed plastic bag for 10 minutes.
.Remove the peppers from the bag, peel off the skin, and roughly chop.
.Drain the juice from the can of tomatoes and chop the tomatoes into small pieces.
.In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, chopped jalapeno peppers, garlic salt, cumin, black pepper, white pepper, and cilantro.
.Mix well and serve.
