4 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour | |
2 teaspoons baking soda | |
2 teaspoons cream of tartar | |
1/2 teaspoon salt | |
1 cup butter or 1 cup regular margarine | |
1 cup brown sugar , packed | |
1 cup sugar | |
3 eggs |
1. | Preheat the oven to 375°F |
2. | Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt in a medium bowl |
3. | Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together in large bowl using an electric mixer |
4. | Beat in eggs, one at a time, until blended |
5. | Gradually stir in flour mixture, mixing well after each addition |
6. | Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place onto ungreased baking sheets |
7. | Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned |
8. | Remove from oven and cool on wire rack |
