Ingredients

1 1/2 cups 2 % evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups 2 % milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
5 egg yolks
1 1/4 cups water
1 can fruit cocktail in heavy syrup , syrup drained and reserved
3 packages unflavored gelatin
2 tablespoons lemon juice , or to taste
2 packages ladyfingers

Instructions

1.In a saucepan, combine evaporated milk, milk, white sugar, water, flour, and egg yolks. Whisk until smooth.
2.Cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes or until thick and creamy, stirring constantly.
3.Remove from heat then add the drained fruit cocktail and lemon juice. Stir to combine.
4.In a separate bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder on top of the reserved fruit cocktail syrup. Let it stand for 5 minutes to bloom.
5.Heat the bloomed gelatin mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir to combine.
6.Pour half of the crema de fruta mixture into a 9x13 inch dish. Arrange the ladyfingers on top. Pour the remaining crema de fruta on top of the ladyfingers.
7.Pour the melted gelatin mixture on top of the crema de fruta. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until set.
