Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina flour, baking powder, and chopped almonds.
3.In a separate bowl, whisk together the white sugar, plain yogurt, vegetable oil, and rosewater.
4.Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined.
5.Spoon the mixture into a greased 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan, and smooth out the surface.
6.Garnish the top of the mixture with the blanched almond halves.
7.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the surface is golden brown.
8.Meanwhile, make the sugar syrup by combining the water, white sugar, rosewater, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
9.Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, then reduce the heat and leave to simmer for 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
10.Once the Harisseh is baked, remove it from the oven and pour the hot sugar syrup over the top while it's still hot.
