The Hanukkah Star Challah Bread is a traditional bread made during around Hanukkah, which is the festival of lights. This bread is shaped like a star to represent the story of a Jewish woman named Judith who saved her people from an enemy by feeding the enemy general cheese and wine until he fell asleep, and then she beheaded him. When the enemy army saw their general was dead, they retreated. Judith is seen as a symbol of Jewish courage and strength. This bread celebrates her bravery and is enjoyed by families during the holiday season. The bread is sweet, fluffy, and has sesame seeds on top, giving it a unique flavor and texture that everyone will love.

Instructions

.In a large mixing bowl, combine water, eggs, salt, white sugar, bread flour, and active dry yeast. Mix until the ingredients are combined and the dough is smooth.
.Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
.Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean cloth. Let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
.Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Take one part and divide it into 3 pieces. Roll each piece into a 10-inch rope, and then create a 6-pointed star with the ropes.
.Place the stars onto the prepared baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
.In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash.
.Brush the top of each star with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
.Bake the bread for about 20-25 minutes or until it's golden brown.
.Take the bread out of the oven, let it cool, and enjoy!
