Ingredients

12 ounces smoked haddock
4 ounces bacon , chopped
8 ounces tomatoes , sliced
2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese , shredded
butter ( for frying )
1 small onion , chopped
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
2 -3 tablespoons water
Ham and Haddie Pie is a classic British dish that is sure to warm you up on a cold day. The smokiness of the haddock pairs well with the saltiness of the bacon, while the cheesy breadcrumb topping adds a nice crunch. It's a simple dish to make and is perfect for a family meal or dinner party.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Poach the smoked haddock in simmering water for 5-7 minutes, then remove from water and set aside.
3.Fry the bacon in butter until crisp, then remove from pan and set aside.
4.In the same pan, fry the onion until softened, then remove from heat.
5.In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, melted butter, and water.
6.Layer the smoked haddock, bacon, sliced tomatoes, and fried onion in a deep dish.
7.Cover with the breadcrumb mixture.
8.Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
9.Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
