Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 dozen egg
4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
This traditional Greek dish, known as Kreatopita or Pita, is a savoury pie (a bit like a pasty) that was originally made for travelling and can be eaten hot or cold. It is a great option for picnics, road trips, or as a packed lunch for school or work. The dough is made with butter, eggs, and flour, and the filling is usually made with spinach, feta cheese, or meat. You can also add other fillings such as onions, mushrooms or chicken depending on your preferences. The recipe can be time-consuming, but it is worth the effort to make a hearty and tasty meal that can be enjoyed on-the-go.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
2.In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3.Beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each is worked into the mixture.
4.Gradually add the flour, stirring until a firm dough forms.
5.Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and roll out a third of it to line the base of a rectangle baking dish.
6.Add your choice of fillings (e.g. spinach and feta cheese) and cover with the remaining dough, sealing the edges.
7.Brush the top with milk and bake in the oven for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown.
