6 large eggs
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar

1 quart milk
16 ounces phyllo pastry sheets

Instructions

1.In a large saucepan, melt the butter on medium heat.

4.In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cornstarch, and remaining sugar.
5.Slowly pour half of the scalded milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
6.Return the egg mixture to the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture.
7.Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
8.Remove from heat and let cool.
9.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
10.Cut the phyllo sheets to the size of your baking pan. Brush each sheet with melted butter and layer them in the baking pan.
11.Pour the custard onto the phyllo layers.
12.Fold the edges of the phyllo over the custard mixture to form triangles.
13.Brush the triangles with butter and sprinkle with water.
14.Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
15.Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
